Our baby girl Lola, was born on 16 February weighing in at 9.2 pounds. She was 10 days over the due date in the end.

When a Yogababy 'baby' turns Pro!

Pacha Light was one of yogababy's first babies.  In early 2000 when I was studying Childbirth Education & Prenatal Yoga with Jane Campbell-Kaye in Brisbane, I travelled to South America to help my bestfriend, Anja Light,  bring Pacha into the world - at her home in the mountains of Ecuador. I taught  her yoga techniques to stay peaceful and relaxed during labour.

BIRTHSTORY: Meet baby Amber

Our little girl Amber decided to come early, she came to the world very peacefully, naturally and in water and has continued on to be a very peaceful baby. She's quite little as she was born at 37 weeks but she's healthy and we're both doing well. The active birthing classes were very useful. The breathing helped me through for a natural birth.

BIRTH STORY: Meet Baby Finley

I am sharing another birth story with you today. Sometimes, babies give their mamas the gift of self belief. Read on to find out how baby Finley did just that as told by Yogababy mama Marielle:

My plan was to have an epidural on arrival. When the midwife monitored me, she asked me , do you want the good news or the bad news? I said bad first. She said, your birth plan is out the window, it’s too late for an epidural, you are fully dilated, you are having this baby now. What she also said that was really powerful was that you need to believe in yourself right now that you can have this baby without the epidural, it’s too late. You need to focus all of your energy on pushing, and push the pain away.

However this joy is often accompanied by the discomforts of morning sickness, emotional ups and downs and apprehension about the impending labour. Obstetricians and midwives recommend yoga to pregnant women to help promote a healthier, happier pregnancy. They notice that those women who have practised pre natal yoga throughout their pregnancy cope better with the challenges of labour.

PreNatal Yoga: When is a baby conscious in the womb?

The raising of a child begins within the nine months of pregnancy. Your state of mind and your relationship to the world are all transmitted to your child and becomes their foundation for life.  During pregnancy, you and your baby function as one. Bonding after birth is in fact just the continuation of the bonding process that began in the womb.

Let’s have a look from a yogic perspective on how your baby’s consciousness develops over their time in the womb.
